None of the show calendars we checked on 28 September 2026 lists a coin show in the Texas Panhandle for the rest of 2026. The Amarillo Coin & Currency Show is next listed for July 2027, and we found no late-2026 date for Lubbock. If you want a bourse floor before Christmas, the nearest shows we found listed are in the Oklahoma City area, about four hours east on I-40, and in Dallas–Fort Worth, about five hours southeast.
Below is what is on the calendar, what each trip involves, and how to decide whether a show is worth a tank of gas.
Why the Panhandle calendar is empty until summer
The Amarillo show is listed as a once-a-year event. It is held at the Amarillo Civic Center's Regency Room, with the local Golden Spread Coin Club running a raffle at the event. Its next listed dates are July 9–11, 2027, with general admission listed at $5 and children under 17 free.
Lubbock is less certain. The Lubbock Coin and Currency Show has run in past years, but we found no late-2026 date for it on the calendars we checked, and one promoter page we found describes the Lubbock show as cancelled. Follow the show's own page rather than a third-party listing; small shows are the ones most likely to be rescheduled, and aggregator sites are slow to catch it.
The late-2026 shows within a day's drive
Every date below comes from a show calendar or a club calendar, checked 28 September 2026. Confirm with the organizer before you leave. Hours and venues change, and a five-hour drive to a cancelled show is the one mistake worth avoiding.

Oklahoma City area: the shortest drive
The Oklahoma City Coin Club calendar lists its annual show at the Moore Community Center on October 2–3, with free admission and Saturday hours of 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The club describes it as the city's largest coin show. The same calendar lists the Mustang Coin Show on November 6–7, with evening hours of 5 to 9 p.m. For Amarillo, Oklahoma City is the closer of the two metro areas, and most of the drive is a single run east on I-40.
Fort Worth: the Cowtown Coin Show
The Cowtown Coin Show runs Friday noon to 5 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Adults pay $5 and anyone 17 and under gets in free. An early-bird session on Friday morning is listed at $40. Its contact is the same promoter listed for the Amarillo show. White Settlement is on the west side of Fort Worth, which saves you the drive across the Metroplex.
Grapevine: the Texas Coin Show
The Texas Coin Show at the Grapevine Convention Center runs twice before year-end, in November and in mid-December. Admission is listed at $5 on Friday or Saturday and $2 on Sunday. One calendar lists it as Friday to Sunday and another as Saturday and Sunday only, so confirm the dates before you book a room. It is a good pick if you are hunting a specific date or variety rather than browsing. Note that the November date falls on the same weekend as the Mustang show, so you will need to choose between them.
Is a show worth the drive?
Whether a show is worth the drive depends on what you are looking for. A show puts dozens of dealers' inventory in one room, which is its real advantage. If you collect a series and need a particular date, mintmark or grade, you can see more candidates in an afternoon than any single shop carries. You can also compare how different tables price the same certified coin, since the grade and the certification number are printed on the slab.
For common bullion the case is weaker. A one-ounce Silver Eagle is priced off the spot price at a show as much as anywhere else. The difference between sellers is each one's premium on the day, and a round trip of ten hours, fuel and a hotel is a cost of its own. Go for the selection, the education and the people.
Shows are also where many collectors first meet a coin club, which is often worth more than anything you buy that day.
What to take with you
- A want list. Write down dates, mintmarks and the grade range you will accept. On a busy floor it keeps you from impulse buys.
- A loupe. A 5x or 10x glass is enough to check surfaces, rims and signs of cleaning.
- Holders for what you buy. Raw coins are often handed over in paper envelopes or soft flips. Our supplies page carries Air-Tite capsules and direct-fit holders. - A clear idea of how you will pay. Each table sets its own payment terms. Ask before you negotiate rather than after.
- A list of anything you plan to sell. Group coins by what they are, and never clean them first. Cleaning can reduce a collectible coin's value.
Selling at a show versus selling at home
Selling at a show and selling at a local shop both work, for different reasons. A show lets you get several offers in one afternoon, and a specialist in your series may pay more for a scarce piece than a generalist would. The trade-offs are that you carry your coins across the state and you deal with people you may never see again.
A local shop gives you a counter you can walk back into next month, with no travel and no time limit.
