1908 Double Eagles Saint Gaudens PCGS MS-64 No Motto Rough Rider
The Rough Rider Hoard was discovered in Europe and included a group of historic 1907 and 1908 Saint-Gaudens Double Eagles. The Saint-Gaudens design originated with President Theodore Roosevelt’s effort to elevate the artistic quality of American coinage, working with renowned sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens. Early examples were struck without the motto “In God We Trust,” which was later restored to the design following congressional action.
